A Day in My Life as an EMS Worker & Wellness Coach
Hey friends! š¬
I thought it would be fun (and maybe a little eye-opening š) to share a behind-the-scenes look at what my days really look like balancing two of my biggest passions: my job in EMS and my wellness coaching business. Spoiler: Itās not always glamorousābut itās always worth it.
If youāve ever wondered how I juggle it all, or if youāre in a busy season yourself and thinking, āHow can I possibly fit in time for my wellness?!ā, this oneās for you. š
Morning: EMS Shift Hustle š
I work 911 EMS, and my shifts are early. Like... 3:45 AM wake-up early. š As much as Iām not a natural morning person, sticking to my bedtime routine (hello, 9 PM!) has made a huge difference.
Hereās how my mornings typically flow:
ā
Coffee + collagen first thing. Itās non-negotiable and feels like my little ritual to wake up my body + mind.
ā
Quick stretch. Even 2 minutes counts when I know Iāll be sitting in an ambulance for hours.
ā
Pack my wellness essentials. Hydration + gut health packets, protein snacksāmust-haves to get through the shift.
Honestly, my EMS shifts are unpredictable. Some days weāre nonstop; other days thereās downtime. Iāve learned to:
Squeeze in deep breaths and mindset resets between calls.
Stay hydrated (seriouslyāit makes a huge difference in my energy).
Give myself grace when wellness looks like simply surviving the day.
Afternoon: Reset + Recharge š
After a 12-hour shift, Iām tired. But Iāve found ways to recharge without totally crashing:
⨠Gentle movement. Sometimes itās a walk with my dogs, other days itās just some light stretching to unwind my body.
⨠Nourishing food. I crave something freshāusually a smoothie or easy bowl with lots of veggies.
⨠Me-time moment. Whether itās reading, journaling, or sitting outside, I prioritize 20ā30 minutes of quiet time to reset my mind.
And you better believe Iām in bed early to get that sleep I need to do it all again!
Evening (or Days Off): Wellness Business Mode š»
On my days off, itās time to switch hats and focus on growing my wellness business. I love these days because I get to pour into my passion for helping other women feel their best.
What this looks like:
š Planning & content creation. I brainstorm blog posts (like this one!), make reels, and connect with my wellness community.
š¬ Checking in with clients. I love seeing how everyone is doing and supporting them with tips + encouragement.
ā Working with intention. Iāve learned to batch my tasks so I can be super focused and still make time for myself.
How I Balance It All (Most Days š)
I get a lot of questions like: How do you manage working EMS AND running a business? The truth? Itās not about doing everything perfectlyāitās about prioritizing small, sustainable habits that support my well-being no matter how busy I am.
My top 3 tips:
1ļøā£ Plan ahead. I map out my week so I know where my pockets of time are.
2ļøā£ Stay flexible. Some days go sideways, and thatās okay. Progress > perfection.
3ļøā£ Fill my own cup. If Iām not taking care of myself, I canāt show up fully for anyone else.
My Big Takeaway
Whether youāre working long shifts, raising a family, or juggling all the thingsāremember: you donāt have to choose between your busy life and your wellness. Itās 100% possible to weave in small, meaningful habits that make you feel grounded and cared for.
Your journey doesnāt have to look like mine (and honestly, I hope itās not as hectic š ), but I hope this peek into my world inspires you to find your own rhythm.
